Chapter 1: The Wise Sage
Once upon a time, in a peaceful faraway monastery, lived a wise and respected Sage. Known for his wisdom, people from neighboring villages admired him, offering gifts of food, clothes, and money to seek his blessings.
The Sage’s generosity extended to selling the excess gifts, resulting in a sizable wealth. His fortune traveled with him in a bag wherever he went.
Chapter 2: The Cunning Swindler
Observing the Sage from afar, a cunning swindler noticed his wealth and plotted to steal it. Pretending to seek guidance in life, the swindler approached the Sage with an act of a sincere disciple.
Deceived by his act, the Sage welcomed the swindler into his monastery as a disciple, offering to teach him his ways.
Chapter 3: The Swindler's Plan
The Sage shared his nightly meditation routine, instructing the swindler to sleep in a hut at the monastery gate. The swindler tried various methods to snatch the bag, but the Sage kept it close at all times.
Despite contemplating harm, the swindler failed to execute his plan and awaited another opportunity.
Chapter 4: An Invitation
One day, a young boy invited the Sage to his village for a ceremony. Accepting the invitation, the Sage brought the swindler along, hoping it would be a lesson for him.
On their journey, the Sage paused to relieve himself, asking the swindler to watch over the bag.
Chapter 5: The Perfect Chance
Seeing his chance, the swindler took the bag and ran away, leaving the Sage stranded and shocked. The Sage quickly realized he had made a mistake by trusting the swindler.
Chapter 6: Returning Empty-Handed
With a heavy heart, the Sage returned to his monastery empty-handed, learning a harsh lesson in misplaced trust.
He understood the importance of not being deceived by sweet words and cautioned himself against blindly trusting strangers.
Chapter 6: The Moral of The Story
The moral of the story is that we should not be deceived by sweet words from anybody. It’s important to be cautious and not trust strangers blindly, as some people may take advantage of our trust and deceive us.
